The Executive Chairman of Khana LGA, Thomas Bariere has visited Kono boue, Uegwere boue and Kpean communities as part of moves to foster peace in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Thomas while addressing these communities, frowned at the senseless killings that has besieged Kono boue, Uegwere boue and Kpean communities.
He reiterated that his administration is out to fight all elements of crime and criminality in the LGA.
He said, “This crisis between Kono and Uegwere boue should stop, why are we killing ourselves? Kono and Uegwere is only separated by a single road. I want to remind us that this administration is out to combat crime. Some of our children commit crime and run to other communities to hide, tell them that this administration will fish them out by any means necessary. We will not sleep until all persons terrorizing our communities face the full rot of the law.
“In the coming days, we will meet with the leadership of the both communities, discuss and come up with resolutions that will bring lasting peace to both communities.
He further stressed the need for the communities as a people to live in peace.
“I know lives have been lost as a result of this unrest, families have been displaced, but today as a government, we are suing for peace, we must live in one accord.”
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Khana Division corroborated the statement of the executive chairman that there is no hiding place for cultists in Khana.
He advised that only peace can boast the economic survival of our communities and Khana LGA.
Representatives of the both communities in their separate speeches expressed their sincere appreciation for the visit; they assured the Chairman of their unwavering support for all peace moves that will be initiated.
On his visit to Kpean Community, Hon. Sunny Bekanwan in his remark appealed to the people of Kpean to cooperate with executive chairman in his bid to foster peace.
