A Magistrate Court sitting in Isiokpo community in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State has remanded one Chima Wonu, and Favour Abraham in Ahoada Correctional Centre on two counts of conspiracy and forgery.
According to the charges read out in court, the two suspects are alleged to have on the 30th of December, 2021 at Omuagwa community in the area, conspired and forged Deed of Conveyance, stamps with lawyer Seal purporting to be original document.
Our Correspondent reports that the charges revealed that the defendants have committed offence punishable under a section of criminal code of laws of Rivers State but the suspects pleaded not guilty of the charges.
Chief Magistrate Lawrence Isikaku after listening to the bail application by the defense counsel and argument by representative of Nigerian Bar Association adjourned till 13th of January, 2022 for bail consideration.
Speaking outside the courtroom, the Chairman of NBA Isiokpo Branch, Promise Ichegbo said they are joining in prosecuting the matter as sign of warning to members of Surveyors who impersonate legal profession.
On their parts, the Legal Adviser of NBA Jeophery Obodowho and Kashmia Ofurum while narrating how the suspects were apprehended said the case will serve as deterrent to quackery, others who are in the business of de-marketing law profession.
Counsel to the accused declined comment on the court proceedings.
The Magistrate Court sitting in Port Harcourt had remanded two suspects for beheading a nine-year-old boy in Agbandele community in Emuoha Local Government Area.
The Presiding Chief Magistrate also directed the prosecutor to liaise with relevant authorities and produce the third suspects, Chibuzor Amadi on the next adjourned date.
The two suspects, Kenneth Sylvanus and Chijioke Ogbonna who are standing trial on a three-count charge of conspiracy, murder and beheading could not take plea due to the capital charge of murder.
When the matter was called, the first accused Kenneth Sylvanus informed the court that his collaborator in the murder one Chibuzor Amadi was bailed at the police station before their arraignment.
Correspondent reports that prosecutor also told the court that the statement of the first accused mentioned the said Chibuzor Amadi as a collaborator in the case and wondered why the police will bail the suspect.
In his ruling, the Chief Magistrate I. F Iyabo remanded the two suspects and directed the prosecutor to liaise with Attorney general’s office and produce the third suspect Chibuzor Amadi on the next adjourned date of Monday 6 December 2021.
Recall that the trio of Kenneth Sylvanus, Chijioke Ogbonna and Chibuzor Amadi were paraded on the 19 of November by the Rivers State police command for beheading the nine-year-old-boy.
