In accordance with directives from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) the management of Bayelsa United Football Club on Saturday, June 12, directed supporters of the club to stay at home for the remaining matches of the league season.
In a statement issued in Yenagoa, the management said the decision to restrict fans from the stadium followed a circular sent to various clubs in the Nigeria National League (NNL).
The statement noted that henceforth, spectators will not be allowed into the stadium to watch matches pending when the football authorities lift the ban on fans to return to match venues.

It also urged all stakeholders and football enthusiasts to accept the present reality, pointing out that the move for fans not to watch the team was not intentional but to avoid any sanction by NFF.
The statement explained that failure of fans to stay at home is a clear violation of COVID-19 protocols as prescribed by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 and the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development.
The management of the club also appealed to the fans to follow the team at home via it’s social media platforms to avoid banishment from the Samson Siasia Stadium, so as not to impede the chances of the team gaining promotion to the elite professional football league.
