According to reports, nine patients who contracted the covid virus are allegedly died due to a damaged oxygen pipe; this happened on Monday at a hospital in Vladikavkaz.
Sergei Minyaylo, acting head of the Republic of North Ossetia, explained that there had been a ‘rupture’ in the oxygen pipe that ended in the fatality of nine people.
The Investigative Committee which usually sees to checking into criminal situations have been charged by the news agency to look into the case as the death of these people is said to be death by negligence of the hospital meant to see to it that all that was required for their lives was provided for.
The health ministry says there are overall seventy-one patients in the intensive care unit with Covid and about thirteen of them depended on mechanical ventilation; consequently, reports suggest that about nine who died were being supported by ventilators.
The acting head of the republic revealed that the patients who died have been diagnosed with lungs with more than 90% damage before they had been under mechanical ventilators, and he posited it may be hastily conclusive to say the bad oxygen pipe killed them.
He further stated that the problem with the oxygen pipe had been quickly discovered and dealt with in the space of forty minutes while other patients were transferred to backup ventilators; adding that there had not been many challenges with providing oxygen for patients.
There have been situations of Russian covid hospitals witnessing mistakes that led to patients’ deaths amid the pandemic.
