Defilement: Police Maliciously Detain Mother, One Month Old Brother of Physically Challenged Survivor in Rivers

The Ubima Police Division, Ikwerre Local Government Area in rivers state on Sunday 27 March,2022  arrested and detained a month old brother and Ogwubere Eleonu, the mother of the physically challenged defilement survivor at Ubima, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Eze Eleonu, father of the 12 year old physically challenged girl told our reporter on telephone that his wife and his one month old baby was arrested by one Inspector Moses on the orders of the sister to the man who allegedly defiled his daughter.

The accused man was remanded in correctional centre by a Chief Magistrate Court in Port Harcourt on Monday 21, March, 2022 following his arraignment by State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID).

Eleonu disclosed that the Police Inspector seized his wife phone and refused telling a surety(Chief) who came to take his wife on bail where his wife and his one month old baby is being taken to.

Eze Eleonu told our reporter that as at 10pm on Saturday the whereabout of his wife and his one month old baby remain unknown.

Recall that Eze Eleonu was arrested by the same Ubima Police Division last week Saturday (14 March, 2022) on alleged orders of the sister to the alleged defilement accused man but was later granted bail.

In the meantime, the Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign has condemned the alleged use of state apparatus to intimidate and harass the family of the 12 year old girl to make them abandon pursuit for Justice in the alleged defilement of their 12 year old physically challenged daughter.

The National Coordinator of the group, Prince Wiro said the most shocking is the report of the detention of one month old brother to the 12 year old physically challenged defilement survivor.

Wiro called on the Commissioner of Police, CP Eboka Friday to order an immediate and unbiased investigation into the alleged use of officers by relatives to the accused man who has been remanded in correctional centre to harass, intimidate and threaten the father and mother of the 12 year old physically challenged defilement survivor to abandon the pursuit for justice for their daughter.
