Amid reports that the Lagos State Police Command has granted bail to Baba Ijesha after spending weeks in detention for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old girl, Yomi Fabiyi has stated that human rights is key.
Things took a dramatic turn on May 17, when Baba Ijesha was granted bail at the State Criminal Investigation Department SCID Panti on health grounds.
Yomi Fabiyi, the Yoruba actor and self-acclaimed human rights activist, who has been at the forefront fighting for the release of his colleague Baba Ijesha has finally reacted.
While many Nigerians are still frowning at the new development, Yomi Fabiyi took to his Instagram and noted that human rights is key.
“Abuja loun pe bi. Human Rights is Key. There can NEVER be true JUSTICE if human rights of suspects, complainant violated. Rights which include Fair Hearing and strict adherence to the RULE of LAW. Do more on Human Rights, then Nigeria will develop and be peaceful”
Recall thatthe Lawyer to Nollywood actor, Baba Ijesha, Barr Adesina Ogunlana, had written a letter in which he had explained that his client is traumatised, weak and growing lean in police detention.
The lawyer’s letter which was addressed to the Lagos Police Commissioner, states that he has demanded that his client should be released on bail, and that a colleague of Baba Ijesha, Yomi Fabiyi is ready to stand surety for him.
In the letter titled ‘Re: Olanrewaju James Omiyinka application for immediate grant of bail’ urged the police to release Baba Ijesha on bail, stating that the accused has become abnormally weak and lean in detention.
