The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the death of a university student, who reportedly died by drowning.
The deceased, who was simply identified as Divine was a student of the Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, in Delta State.
It was gathered that the sad incident occurred at the Voustapin Beach, Abraka.
According to reports, the deceased was found dead in a beach popularly known as N100 beach, Abraka, Delta State.
Sources told the Daily Independent “A 200 level student in the Department of Chemistry, Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, Mr. Divine, on Sunday got drowned in a popular beach in the university community.
“He died at Voustapin Beach popularly called ‘N100 Beach. Divine went swimming with his friends when the sad incident occurred. While catching their fun, they discovered that Divine was nowhere to be found. We thus went in search of him only to discover that he was dead after drowning,” the sources said.
A relative of Divine said that the parents of the deceased have been notified of the incident.
Meanwhile, the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Edafe Bright, has confirmed the incident to newsmen.
The PPRO said, “It is true; it has just been confirmed that someone died really. But I am yet to get the detailed report about the death.”
