The Councillor representing Ward 5 in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State, Hon. Jude Adjekpogu, is reported to have died days after he was shot by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

It was gathered that the councillor died in the early hours of Thursday at Warri where he had been receiving treatment in an undisclosed private hospital.
The serving councilor was shot by suspected herders on Saturday, December 4, 2021, as he was coming from a function along the Eku-Abraka route.
He had been bedridden ever since, fighting for his life as a result of injuries from the attack.
The kidnappers, who are believed to be herdsmen, were said to have blocked the Eku-Abraka road at around 5:30 p.m. on that fateful day and fired several shots at the councillor’s car, one of which hit his abdomen.

As a result, people in the region have urged the Delta State Government and the Local Government Council to investigate the frequent attacks by suspected kidnappers along the Eku-Abraka axis.
The Abraka-Eku road has, in recent times, become a nightmare for travellers as kidnappers and armed robbers daily prey on travellers.

Meanwhile, Hon. Victor Ofobrukueta, the chairman of the local government council, has assured that the cartel responsible for the increase in criminal activities in the area is being closely monitored and will be brought to justice soon.
