The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta South Senatorial District, Delta State, on Saturday, in an enlarged meeting in Government House Annex, Warri, passed a vote of confidence on Senator Ifeanyi Okowa and his Deputy, Barrister Kingsley Otuaro for their impressive performance so far in office.
The motion for the confidence vote was moved by the acting Majority Leader of Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Kenneth Preyor and seconded by the Member representing Warri South 1 Constituency, Hon. Austin Uroye, while the former Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Frank Enekorogha, put the motion before leaders of the party in Delta South Senatorial District who echoed “Aye” unanimously.
The confidence vote was occasioned by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s landscape transformation, tackling youth unrest, result-oriented performance despite the insecurities ravaging the country.
The membership of the District also noted that the deputy governor, Barr. Kingsley Otuaro was a highly supportive deputy and has proved a real ambassador of the district in Government House.
The Deputy Governor of Delta State, Otuaro, who had earlier called on Deltans to remain committed to the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa-led administration, pledged better times ahead and sued for patience at the well-attended meeting of party leaders drawn from the Ijaw, Isoko, Itsekiri areas and parts of the Urhobo nation in the Senatorial District.
Otuaro, maintained that party members should pursue their aims and ambition with decorum with understanding and peaceful electoral processes, stating that the party meetings are to build blocks and purposefulness required to build bridges of winning elections.
Affirming that the Okowa-led administration wants to enthrone a stronger Delta than what they met in 2015, Otuaro stated that the state government was on course, using vocational educational system and schemes to take unemployed youths from the streets.
While commending former governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan for hosting the meeting, the Deputy Governor charged the PDP Delta South Senatorial District Chairman to keep doing the right thing, that party faithful were behind him.
Also speaking, the immediate past Governor of the state, Dr. Uduaghan, appealed to party members to desist from any act of bitterness and acrimony from themselves, noting that party unity brings peace and success.
Uduaghan, who frowned at those engaging in hate speeches from the party, advised them to avoid it completely, stating that the acts were inimical to the growth of the party, explaining that instead, they should concentrate on themselves by appealing to members to support and to vote for the party.
According to him, “Let us forge unity. Let us not allow the process to tear us apart. We have a common and better future ahead. Let’s eschew divisiveness, and to caution our followers to avoid antagonism and character assassination. We are one people. As we keep politicking by the rules, God will crown our efforts with success.”
Uduaghan, also commended the party Senatorial District Chairman for the way he has handled the party so far, and for giving him the privilege and opportunity to host the meeting.
