Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri has felicitated with Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, Governor of Delta State on the occasion of his 62nd birthday.
Governor Diri described Okowa as a “friend and brother” whose legacies have been imprinted on various aspects of the society from the economy to Infrastructure.
Governor Diri stated that Senator Okowa has shown dedication and commitment to issues of the Niger Delta, including the demand for equity and fairness.
He wished him good health and the wisdom to pilot Delta State to greater heights as he celebrates his 62nd birthday.
“I wish to join your family, the good people of Delta State and your fans all over the world to celebrate you today, being your birthday.
“You have stood firm with your people over the years and as Governor, your legacies are imprinted everywhere with infrastructure and impact.
“Let me then share in the joy of today as a friend and brother and echo that I am indeed grateful for your true friendship since our path crossed.
“As a true democrat and pacesetter, you have shown leadership, character, dedication and faith to issues of common interest.
“It is on record that you have shown great commitment to the Niger Delta issues including our demands for equity, fairness and justice in the Nigerian state.

Senator Ifeanyi Okowa was born in Owa-Alero in Ika North-East Local Government Area of Delta State, on July 8, 1959 and attended the University of Ibadan where he studied Medicine and Surgery, graduating in 1981 with an MBBS degree.
He was elected Senator for Delta North Senatorial District in April 2011 and became governor of the oil-rich state on May 29, 2015 before being re-elected in 2019.
