Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, on Tuesday, February 22, donated a bus to the State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalist (NUJ), in fulfilment of his earlier promise.
The Nissan Urvan 16-seater high roof bus was presented to the NUJ by the state Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Hon. Ayibaina Duba.
Hon. Duba said the gesture was in fulfilment of government’s promise to enable the union discharge its duties effectively.
He added that Government will continue to be alive to its responsibilities by ensuring that journalism is given its place in the state.
In his response the chairman of NUJ Bayelsa State Council, Comrade Samuel Numonengi thanked the governor for his kind gesture and pledged that the bus will be properly used for the progress of the union.
“The leadership of the Bayelsa State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), on behalf of the entire members of the union appreciates the miracle Governor of Bayelsa State on the donation of a brand new Nissan 16-seater bus to the council”, he said.
