Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri at the weekend embarked on the inspection of some ongoing projects in the state, including the construction of the road linking Tombia-Amassoma road to Igbedi community in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area.
The 4.5 kilometre road has been completely sand-filled to the community in readiness for the pouring of other construction materials but as it is, all 4-wheel vehicles can now successfully drive through without difficulty.
While on the project inspection tour to the road, the visibly excited governor and his entourage drove into the Igbedi community amidst cheers and jubilations by the people.
To the excitement of the people, the governor seized the opportunity to grace a wrestling competition that was taking place in the community.
The Governor was accompanied by the State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Solomon Agwuanana, the Chief of Staff, Government House, Chief Benson Agadaga, the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Surv. Moses Teibowei, and his Information, Orientation and Strategy counterpart, Hon. Ayibaina Duba, as well as the Principal Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Irorodamie Komonibo, among others.
The governor, who also inspected the ongoing reconstruction of the collapsed Elebele bridge and Glory Drive, expressed satisfaction with the progress and level of work done on the projects.
Governor Diri later paid a condolence visit to the secretary of the PDP in the state, Mr. Gesiye Isowo, on the demise of his mother, Mrs. Evelyn Isowo.
Mrs. Isowo who hails from Tamu Isedani compound of Okoloba community in Kolokuma/ Opokuma Local Government Area died on the 2nd of July, 2021 at the age of 75.
“We are here to console our brother and friend who lost his beloved mother recently, and as it is, death they say is a necessary end and it will come when it will come.
“On behalf of our great party, the PDP which our brother is secretary, the prosperity administration and indeed the good people of Bayelsa State, we have come to console him and the Isowo family in general, may God grant him and the family the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss, and may God in his infinite mercies, grant the soul of our departed mother eternal rest”, he said.
