In another development, Governor Diri, also on Saturday, honoured the wedding of Tamunodiepiriye Sekibo and Orowhuo Okocha in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The bride is the daughter of Alabo Dr. Abiye Sekibo, former Secretary to the Rivers State Government and former Minister of Transportation under the administration of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, while the groom is the son of Chief Hon. O.C.J. Okocha, prominent lawyer and former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
Diri, who was represented by the Chief of Staff Government House, Yenagoa, Chief Benson Agadaga advised the couples to see their marriage as ordained by God and as such should work in unison to sustain it.
He prayed for the success and fruitfulness of the marriage, urging them to imbibe the spirit of perseverance, patience and tolerance, adding that no marriage is all smooth as challenges are expected.
According to Senator Diri, no two marriages are exactly the same, and so the couple should study themselves and live together happily as it’s required by God.
“Marriage is ordained by God and even Jesus Christ performed his first miracle by turning water into wine at a marriage ceremony. That is to tell you the beauty of marriage. We are here to share in their joy, and for them to carve a niche for themselves”, he said.

The wedding had in attendance people from various works of life including former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Timi Alaibe, Managing Director of Heritage bank, Ifie Sekibo, buisness moguls, captains of industries, members of the diplomatic community, among others.
The traditional marriage took place last Wednesday at the Achin War Canoe Hall, Awolomebiri, Koniju Town, in Okrika.
The bride’s father, Chief Dr. Sekibo holds the title of Achin III; Head and Paramount Chief of Achin War Canoe House in Okrika in Rivers State.
