He made the commendation while speaking as special guest of honour at the 2021 end-of-year get together organized by the Joint Task Force (JTF), South South, Operation Delta Safe in Yenagoa.

The Governor, who was represented by his deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, asserted that Nigeria is stable despite its daunting challenges because of the dedication and sacrifices made by officers and men of the various security agencies.

The Bayelsa Chief Executive pointed out that, but for the gallantry and concerted efforts of the military working under very difficult circumstances, the country would have been worse than what it is today.

According to the Governor, the get-together event is commendable as it creates the opportunity of motivating military officers who have left their families for the critical assignment of protecting the territorial integrity and security of the nation.

While appreciating the achievements of the JTF so far in stemming violent crimes in the Niger Delta, Governor Diri charged the officers to redouble their efforts to effectively tackle the pockets of security challenges in the region.

He assured the military and other security agencies of his administration’s continued commitment towards building a safer and prosperous Bayelsa.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Commander of Operation Delta Safe, Rear Admiral Aminu Hassan, thanked God, the federal and state governments for the operational successes recorded by the security outfit in the outgone year.

Rear Admiral Hassan said Operation Delta Safe was activated in 2016 to stem the tide of insecurity and protect critical oil and gas assets infrastructure in the Niger Delta, adding that the outfit had successfully carried out several operations against oil theft, sea piracy, and other criminal activities.

While appreciating the government and people of Bayelsa State for their support and cordial relationship, the JTF Commander expressed hope for a better synergy in the New Year.

Highpoint of the ceremony was the presentation of special plaques and souvenirs to Governor Diri and his Deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo for their outstanding commitment to good governance and security of the state.
