Bayelsans have expressed diverse views as they assessed the performance of the Sen. Douye Diri led Prosperity Administration in the last two years.
A Bayelsan, Comrade Inivie Sampson said the government has done well and should be applauded, looking at the Sagbama/Ekeremor road, the Yenagoa/Oporoma road, the Elebele Bridge, Glory Drive, among others.
He said: “People can now drive to Angiama for the first time, there was celebration in their community and we were all excited. We are believing that before the Prosperity Government will complete its four years, the road will get to Oporoma town”.
The SSA to the Governor on Community and Rural Development, Prince Perewari applauded the government and harped on the economic impact road networks have on the state.
“Link roads to the communities are important where agricultural activities are going on, through this , the farmers will have a smooth means of transporting their products to the state capital.
“That will also reduce the cost of transportation and of the products, so for investing in this, the Governor has done perfectly well”, he stated.
However, the Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kolokuma Opokuma local government area, Ebipkoemi Bobby, said the government has failed Bayelsans.
“As far as I’m concerned, we are just preparing for a wedding ceremony when you’ve not settled your in-laws. Bayelsans have not been settled.
“You’re doing roads, it’s not complete and you’re rushing to commission that road. How can you commission a media house without erecting a mast and bringing in equipment.
“Radio Bayelsa is sharing a mast with NTA and you want to commission a project there. They said they want to commission over 40 internal roads, I was now asking, is there any other Yenagoa we have because I’m not seeing those roads.
“Billions of Naira are coming into this state, if His Excellency is making good use of that money, by now we would have been celebrating prosperity, so I see nothing worth celebrating here.
“As a Bayelsan I’d like to say the government hasn’t done according to the expectation of the people. Some of the projects that have not been half way done are going to be commissioned”, he said.
A Lawyer, David Akpoebi, on his part said, “There are several projects by the last administration that we thought will be completed by this government, but they are yet to be completed.
“The state government awarded 50 internal roads to be rehabilitated, from my findings not up to 10 were done and in 6 months they are already dilapidated because of the poor quality of materials used”, he said.
Governor Diri will be two years in office on Monday February 14, 2022 and the activities to kick stary the anniversary has begun.
