A driver, who knocked off a police officer while trying to evade arrest, has been arraigned before an Oshodi mobile court.
The 38-year-old driver, identified as Sunday Okodo, was apprehended by men of the Lagos State Police Command, on Wednesday, February 24, when he tried escaping after driving against the traffic along International Airport Road in Lagos.
Okodo’s wahala started when he was caught driving against traffic, which is viewed as a serious traffic offence in Lagos.
Okodo was seen in a video that has been trending, resisting arrest when men of the Lagos Police Command wanted to apprehend him. In the course of maneuvering his car, with the intent of escaping, he hit a police officer, knocking him over the railings of a bridge, into a canal.
According to Yabaleftonline.com, the Lagos State Police Command arraigned Okodo before the Oshodi mobile court on Friday, February 26. 2021.
Okodo was arraigned before the court on six charges including driving against traffic, resisting arrest, reckless and dangerous driving, driving with invalid drivers’ licence, assaulting a police officer, and attempted murder.
The police say he will be charged to court for the attempted murder charge in another court. At the ruling, no bail or fine was given and he will be remanded in Badagry prison until March 26 for the next hearing, reports Yabaleftonline.com.
