The Department of State Services (DSS) has finally admitted that it arrested Mr. Salihu Yakasai, embattled former media aide to Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State.
The DSS had earlier denied arresting Yakasai, when news broke that he was missing and could be in their custody, after being sacked by his former boss for a social media post he made against President Muhammadu Buhari.
But the security service in a volte-face confirmed that Yakasai was with them and answering questions that is unrelated to his social media post.
Spokesman of the DSS, Mr. Peter Afunanya said in a statement that “This is to confirm that Salihu Tanko-Yakasai is with the Department of State Services. He is being investigated over issues beyond the expression of opinions in the social media as wrongly alleged by sections of the public”.
Yakasai got into trouble on Friday when he took to twitter to register his displeasure over the alarming rate of crime in the country, especially activities of bandits and calling on President Buhari to do something decisive about it or resign.
