The Department of State Service (DSS) has denied any involvement in the alleged attempt to arrest Sunday , popularly known as Igboho, in Ibadan.
The DSS said contrary to reports in some section of the media, its men were not involved in any alleged arrest of the Yoruba activist.
Earlier on Friday, images in the media had shown security operatives allegedly trying to arrest Igboho, with some section of the media reporting specifically that it was the DSS.
In a swift reaction however, the Service has come out to debunk the story, insisting that it knows nothing about the alleged arrest.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Friday, the Public Relations Officer of the Service, Peter Afunanya said the stories in the media that agents of the DSS allegedly attempted arresting Igboho is untrue and should therefore be disregarded.
Afunanya said the publication that some personnel of the Service attempted to arrest Igboho at Ibadan in Oyo State was not true, reports the Vanguard..
According to him, “the said news is misinforming and should be taken as fake and therefore be disregarded”.
