Former Special Adviser to Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State on Media, Salihu Tanko-Yakasai has regained his freedom, three days after he was arrested by operatives of the Department of State Security (DSS).
His father, Tanko Yakasai, confirmed his release on Monday night.
He said Salihu who is popularly known as Dawisu, is still in Abuja with his brothers and will travel to Kano later.
The DSS picked up Salihu after he was fired by Ganduje for what the government termed provocative comments against President Muhammadu Buhari.
Salihu had taking to social media to condemn the level of insecurity in the country, blaming it on the Federal Government while also calling on Buhari to resign.
His arrest was greeted with condemnation as human rights lawyer, Femi Falana declared that there is no offence in calling for the resignation of a president in the laws of Nigeria.
