As Christians all over the world celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, a clergyman, Reverend Dr. Iwokurai Monicap has admonished that the reason for the season should not be lost by all.

Speaking to our correspondent, Rev. Monicap of the Assemblies of God Church in the Tombia area of Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital said it is only when people reflect on the season that they will be able to appreciate Christ more.
While explaining the significance of the celebration and what it means to Christians, Rev. Monicap stated that Easter was one way that Christians could feel the love of Christ and participate in his death and rebirth when he arose.
“Easter is an annual festival commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ, Easter is the most important feast of the Christian, Easter is a joyous occasion because on this day Christian celebrate Christ’s victory over death.
“We the Christians also believe that Easter symbolize our participation in his death and rebirth to a new life.
“According to the bible, Early on Easter morning, some women who were among Jesus’ followers came to his tomb to anoint his body. They found that the great stone that sealed the entrance had been rolled away and that the tomb was empty.
“At that moment, two angels appeared, saying “Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen!” This event was taken as proof of Chris’s divinity and signalled his triumph over death, and evil. Praise the Lord. The Tomb is empty”.
The Reverend said this was one of the pillars of Christianity, a sign of the power of Jesus that even death cannot conquer and hold him captive.
He added that in celebrating the life of Jesus, every Christian is celebrating being liberated from sin.
