Following the outcry by some members of the APC over the demolition of some properties belonging to them by the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, the Governor has come out to clear the air.
It will be recalled that the Edo State government had instructed the demolition of the properties belonging to the immediate past deputy governor of the state, Dr Pius Odubu and that of Professor Julius Ihonvbere, former Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and Mike Itemuagbon, sports promoter, however the Governor said it was not some sort of witch-hunting, adding that the Certificates of Occupancy were withdrawn from some property owners including him that was the governor.
The Governor conveyed his just reasons, via a statement signed by the secretary to the state government (SSG), Mr Osarodion Ogie, the Governor revealed that the C-of-Os of the properties were revoked on December 21, 2020 because they were government properties unlawfully gifted by former Governor of the state, Comr. Adams Oshiomhole to his political allies.
According to the statement, the Edo State governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki had On December 21, 2020, revoked the Certificates of Occupancy (C-of-O) of 11 government properties within the Government Reserved Area (GRA) which were given to some politicians loyalists and friends immediate past Governor of the state, Adams Oshiomhole.
Contained in the statement was the fact that Gov. Obaseki who was a beneficiary of Oshiomhole’s gifting spree also had his property revoked.

The action of the Governor would not be coming as a surprise as he has in recent times berated the leadership policies of his estranged godfather and predecessor, Adams Oshiomhole.
