The Modular Refinery in Ologbo, Ikpoba-okha Local Government Area (LGA) of Edo State is ready for production.
This was disclosed by the Governor of the State, Godwin Obaseki, after he was taken round the facility by the Managing Director of the Refinery, Mr Tim Tian.
The Governor said the pre-commission of the Project has been carried out by the Department of Petroleum Resources and they, DPR, have certified the refinery, therefore the plant is ready to receive crude oil; process and deliver the products. What is left now is to finalize the Crude Oil Sale Contract
He recalled that he went to China to sign the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and he is impressed with the speed of work. He also expressed hope that they would start lifting products from the refinery before the end of August this year.
According to him, the facilities require a certain type of crude from the Escravos line and that is being finalized.
Speaking at the event, the traditional ruler of Ologbo Community, Chief Owen Akenzua, said his people are excited over the project, noting that the project will boost the socio-economic development of his community.
Similarly, the Managing Director of the Ologbo Modular Refinery commended the Governor for his support towards achieving the project.
He remarked that the Covid-19 pandemic affected the project, but now the facility is ready for production.
