The Imo State Police Command has assured of adequate security in the state during the holidays marking Moslem festival of Eid-El-Kabir on Monday, July 11 and Tuesday, July 12, 2022.

The command said its personnel would ensure vital places like worship centres, federal and state secretariats, recreational centres, educational institutions and hospitality facilities and public spaces are adequately policed.
The spokesman of the police in the state, CSP Michael Abattam disclosed in a statement that the operatives of the command would undertake intelligence-led ‘stop and search’ operations in the three zones of the state.
According to Abattam, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Ahmed Barde had directed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and Heads of Departments to also deploy personnel to embark on visibility policing and vehicular patrols at the entry and exit points of the state during the period.
The police spokesman further disclosed that the personnel would equally engage in what he termed confidence-building to reassure Imolites of the command’s commitment to safeguarding life and property in the state.

The statement reads in part; “The Command is working assiduously with other security agencies to ensure that it spreads its security tentacles to cover vital areas like worship centers, federal and state government infrastructure, recreational centers, educational institutions, hospitality centres and public spaces within the state.
“The Commissioner of Police has marshaled out the Command’s Monitoring Unit and the Inspector-General of Police X-Squad Unit to monitor the men and make sure they observe the Standard Operational Procedures (SOP) while performing their lawful duties.
“Moreso, the officers and men have been properly briefed to be civil and act within the ambit of the law while interfacing with members of the public.
“Finally, the Commissioner of Police wishes all Muslim faithful in the state, a happy Eid-El-Kabir celebrations and urge them to call in times of distress, complaints and dissemination of credible information.”
