As part of the measures put in place to ensure a hitch free sallah celebration in the state, the Rivers State Commandant, Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Commandant Aliyu Bature has deployed a total of Three Hundred and Fifty Seven personnel of the command ahead of the forthcoming Eid-el-kabir Celebration in Rivers state.
The NSCDC disclosed this in a statement by its Public Relation Officer of the command Oguntuase Michael in Port Harcourt.
The statement said the personnel are to ensure all recreation centers, places of worship, all the oil pipeline installations/locations and identified flashpoints are heavily guarded before, during and after the celebration.
The statement read, “To ensure free flow of traffic and security of lives and properties of the residents of Rivers State, the NSCDC has deployed Three Hundred and Fifty Seven personnel of the Command to Rivers State.
“This measure will ensure that security is beefed, both the worship centers across the state, all recreational centers, all the oil pipelines installation and locations and identified flash points are heavily guarded before and during the sallah celebration.”
The NSCDC urged residents of Rivers State to report all suspicious movements around them to the nearest security outpost for prompt response.
“We advise all residents of Rivers State to report any illegal movements around them, around the worship center to the nearest security personals for immediate responds.
“As we see towards ensuring a fun filled Eid-el-kabir to the Muslim faithful in Rivers State, we wish to reaffirm our commitments to see that the purpose of the celebration is not defeated by hoodlums.”
The agency while wishing the Muslim faithful a happy Eid-el-kabir in advance, further advice the general public to stay away from acts capable of undermining the peace and tranquility enjoyed in the state as such will meet stiff resistance from the Command.
