Muslim faithfuls in Bayelsa have been advised to exemplify the teachings of the Holy Prophet Mohammed as they celebrate this year’s Eid-il-fitr.
Chairman Council of Imams Bayelsa State, Imam Abdulsufian Uche, gave the advice while speaking to newsmen, in Yenagoa, the state capital.
According to him, the holy prophet also taught Muslim faithful to be peaceful, law abiding and co-exist with their neighbors, irrespective of tribe, race and religion.
On the significance of the Eid-il-fitr celebrations, Imam Abdulsufian, said it is geared towards seeking for forgiveness as well as showing appreciations to Allah for his mercies and blessings towards them.
Also, Alhaji Yakubu Otobo, the Chairman Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in the state, while giving thanks to Allah, said despite the trial and temptations, they have been able to overcome by successfully completing the Ramadan fast.
He also enjoined Muslim faithful to celebrate and live peacefully with their neighbors, saying it is the hallmark of the teachings of Allah.
“It is important to show love. We are all one, irrespective of religion. So I call on all Muslims to use this period to show love and also learn to live peacefully with others for the betterment of our country”, he said.
