“Gratitude turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity…it makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow”, wrote Melody Beattie, the American author of self-help books on codependent relationships.
Be grateful for the things you have and stop complaining about the things you don’t have. Anyone who is grateful to God and the people around them as a result of any favour shown to them, tend to be happier and contented. They are also positive that more things will come.
Develop a grateful attitude. Be grateful for the families you have, your friends, the progress you have made so far in your career and family life.
7. Good memories
The experiences you have are very important. Good memories are the things you will cherish even when the people who made the memories are no longer there. Good memories remind you of how beautiful life is and how important people have been in your life. Cherish every memorable experience you have. You can write memorable moments in a journal and go back to them sometimes.
Time is very important. It is the most valuable asset you have. Invest it well. Do not invest your time in frivolities, instead focus on building and developing yourself and those around you.
Take some time to evaluate what you spend your time on. If they are not worth it, kindly do away with them. Since time is of good essence, manage it well enough so that your activities will not get choked thereby affecting each valuables. For instance, create time for work, social activities and most importantly, your family.
Another important thing in life is education. Education gives rooms for opportunities to come. Have the willingness to learn something new everyday. Both classroom education and outside the classroom go a long way in shaping who you would eventually become. Cherish education. There are different ways one can garner experience. Look for them and be well furbished.
10. Good health
French enlightenment writer, historian and philosopher, Voltaire once said, “I have chosen to be happy because it is good for my health”.
You shouldn’t joke with your health. When you are unwell, you tend to lose so many things. Be mindful of what goes into your health. A sound health could make you have a fulfilling life because you have the vitality to go the extra mile but when your health is retarded you are limited. Value your health and don’t take it for granted.
11. Good sense of humour
Laughter, they say, is medicine. Life is not as hard as you think it is. Laugh it off and don’t be too rigid over everything. Some persons are easily offended, and they take things too personally.
Living with a sense of humour cuts out needless stress and drama from your life. Allow the radiance and joy in you rob off on others. Stay happy! Sometimes you may be engulfed with the hustling and bustling of life, but still maintain your humour.
