Two time African champions, Enyimba International Football Club started their 2021 CAF Confederation Cup group stage campaign with a perfect 2-1 victory over Al-Ahly Bengazi of Libya in Aba, on Wednesday March 10, 2021.
Enyimba’s Captain Austin Oladapo opened the scoring in the 9th minute when he struck a long range left-foot effort that beat the goalkeeper from just outside the area.
After the goal, the Nigerian side was fully in their opponents half, combining well in possession and retaining the ball well in the final third.
But they found it difficult to create better chances and even looked very porous without the ball despite Coach Fatai Osho’s three-man defense set up.
There was relative silence around the stadium in 18 minutes when the visitors drew level from the spot kick. The penalty was awarded when midfielder Omaka Chukwudi had fouled Abdalla Mohamed. Then Mohamed took the penalty to make it 1-1.

Despite the visitors drawing level, Enyimba continued to put more pressure on their opponent and they got their second goal of the day through Victor Mbaoma just before half time.
The second goal was scored in the 43rd and was enough to give the Elephants of Aba a comfortable victory.
According to Daily Trust, Enyimba have now conceded a goal in 5 consecutive continental matches.
Enyimba’s next game will be against former CAF Champions League winners, Orlando Pirates in South Africa.
Algerian side ES Setif are the other team in Group A that Osho’s men will face.
