Ex-militant leader and former commander of the defunct Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), Ebikabowei Victor-Ben, popularly known as ‘General Boyloaf’, says his regret in the Niger Delta struggle is the inability of the Ijaw Nation to speak in one voice.
Boyloaf, who just bagged a first-class honors degree in International Relations and Diplomacy from Baze University, Abuja said if the Ijaws were totally in agreement, much would have been achieved, considering how and when the struggle started.
He stressed the need for leaders of the struggle and youths to always create room for peace and unity to thrive in the region, so as to attract the needed infrastructural development to the region.
The ex-warlord maintained that to attract investors to the region, ex-agitators and youths must strive to change the negative perception around them to boost investors’ confidence to come down to the Niger Delta.
Boyloaf also urged politicians from the region to shun personal differences and keep to their part of the struggle.
He commended the leadership style of the Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri and called on all Ijaw sons and daughters to rally around the governor in his efforts to unite the Ijaws.
Meanwhile, Interim Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Col Milland Dixon Dikio (rtd), has congratulated Boyloaf, on his graduation with a First Class honours degree in International Relations and Diplomacy.
The PAP helmsman noted that the latest achievement by Boyloaf, who is also concurrently studying for a Master’s degree, should inspire others to work towards attaining greater heights, not just in academics but other industries for the benefit of the region and the country.
According to him, people should judge the region by the good things being churned out and not pockets of typical setbacks happening in other climes.
While congratulating Boyloaf, Dikio added that PAP under his leadership would “continue to encourage and support other beneficiaries who are willing to climb the ladder of success through hard and smart work”.
