A former Imo State Commissioner for Transport, Rex Anunobi has alleged a campaign of calumny aimed at destroying his harmonious relationship with the state governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma.
Anunobi, said in a statement signed by his media aide, Ebere Uzoukwa that he had also uncovered a coordinated campaign geared at blackmailing and tarnishing his image.
He denied that he had at any time since his ouster following the dissolution of the state executive council spoken privately or publicly about the treatment meted out to him by the governor.
Anunobi said the statement credited to him as complaining about the manner they were treated with contempt after their last executive council meeting in Owerri never emanated from him.
The erstwhile commissioner accused some wicked and desperate individuals within and outside government of Senator Uzodimma of being adamant in their futile efforts to destroy his relationship with the governor
He enjoined the public to disregard the sponsored online media statements credited to him.
Anunobi, who served as Deputy Director-General of Hope Uzodimma 2019 Campaign Organization reaffirmed his loyalty to the governor, saying he is more than ever committed to the success of the administration.
The statement reads; ”We wish to alert the general public on yet another round of blackmail and destructive media campaign sponsored on Daily Post, an online media platform and peddled in the social media which are orchestrated to tarnish the image of Chief Barr. Rex C. Anunobi, the immediate past Commissioner for Transport, Imo State, as well as destroy his cordial and long-time relationship with Gov. Hope Uzodimma.
“We wish to make to restate that since the dissolution of Imo State Executive Council, Barr. Anunobi had at no time, privately or publicly said, authored or issued all that has been maliciously credited to him in the social media.
“Let it be known that the statements ascribed to Barr. Anunobi within this period are clear indication that some wicked and desperate individuals within and outside the government are unrelenting in their futile attempt to destroy his relationship with the Shared Prosperity Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma.
“We therefore, for the umpteenth time enjoin the public to disregard completely the serially sponsored online media statements maliciously credited to the former Commissioner?
