The immediate past Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Tayo Alasoadura, on Saturday lost his bid to clinch the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Ondo Central Senatorial District.

The primary of the party which was held at the International Culture and Event Center (DOME), Akure had Mrs Olawumi Olatunji; Dr Tola Awosika; Senator Tayo Alasoadura; Mr Adeniyi Adegbonmire (SAN); Mr Adeniran Oyebade and Mr Ilesola Akinpelumi as aspirants.
The Chairman, Election Committee for the primary, Dr Clara Njokwu declared Mr Adeniyi Adegbonmire (SAN) winner of the election after scoring 144 Votes while his closet rival, Senator Tayo Alasoadura scored 88 votes.

She said: “Also, Mrs. Olawumi Olatunji scored two votes, Dr Tola Awosika had 44 votes; Adeniran Oyebade scored zero vote while Ilesola Akinpelumi had four votes. Out of the 325 registered delegates, 323 delegates were accredited and voted. The delegates who participated in the primary were from six local governments of Akure South, Akure North, Ondo East, Ondo West, Ondo East and Idanre which made up the Central Senatorial District”.
Reacting, Adegbonmire who dedicated his victory to God and his constituents, promised not to disappoint them. He also promised to reconcile with other aspirants for them to support the APC to victory at the general elections.
He said, “I know the APC will be victorious and I will be the Senator. Myself and the PDP candidate match each other and we are going to have a good fight a good election.”
In Ondo North senatorial district, a businessman, Jide Ipinsagba was elected as the party’s flag bearer. Ipinsagba scored 268 votes to defeat the State Governor’s kinsman, Mr Alex Ajipe, who scored 57 votes. Also, Gbenga Elegbeleye had 14 votes and Admiral Samuel Alade (rtd) polled 7 Votes, while 7 votes were declared invalid.
