FCMB Group Plc’s board of directors has appointed Yemisi Edun as managing director of First City Monument Bank Limited.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday, the announcement follows the departure of the bank’s former managing director, Adam Nuru.
The bank stated that the board had previously reviewed media allegations made against the former managing director in late 2020 and found no violation of its policies.
“The board of directors of FCMB thanks Mr Nuru for his years of dedicated service and wishes him all the best in his future endeavours,” according to the statement.
According to FCMB, Edun was the bank’s executive director/chief financial officer before her appointment and previously served as acting managing director.
With nearly 35 years of work experience, Edun holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Ife, Ile-Ife, and a master’s degree in international accounting and finance from the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom,” according to the statement.
She is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and a Certified Financial Analyst, CFA Charter holder.”
Recall that Mr Nuru sparked outrage in December when allegations surfaced that he had an illicit affair with a former FCMB employee, Moyo Thomas, and fathered her two children while she was still married to her husband, Tunde Thomas.
Mr Thomas was said to have died in December from shock after learning that Mr Nuru fathered his two children.
The Board also stated that it reviewed media allegations made against the former MD in late 2020 but did not reveal the outcome of its investigations.
