The federal government has said it would not allow Imo State to become ungovernable and unruly.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo stated this on Tuesday in Owerri, the state capital at the unveiling ceremony of the National Micro Small and Medium Enterprises Clinic.
Osinbajo urged youths of the state to take advantage of the programmes of the federal and state governments to train and empower them to become meaningfully engaged.
The Vice President commended the giant strides of the state governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma in uplifting the state.
He noted that he had visited Imo State and commissioned some critical projects after which his boss, President Muhammadu Buhari came in September and commissioned some strategic projects also executed the by the Uzodimma administration.
Osinbajo added that the commissioning ceremonies show that something was happening in the state.
He said the construction of roads and provision of other infrastructure is critical to the socio-economic development of the state.
The vice president explained that the clinic will link the beneficiaries with relevant agencies of government such as Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON) to help them achieve their dream.
Earlier, the state governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma said his government has brought under control the politically-contrived security challenges in the state.
He urged local and foreign investors to invest in the state, adding that his administration had trained and empowered thousands of youths, who are doing well in their different fields of endeavour.
Gov. Uzodimma also urged the youths of the state not to allow themselves to be deceived by those who do not mean well for them, stressing that the youths should key into the programmes of the government in their own interest.
The governor requested the federal government to establish a vocational skills acquisition centre in the state to absorb those who are not given to academic studies but know how to deploy their innate skills to good use.
The National Micro Small and Medium Enterprises Clinic is an initiative of the Office of the Vice President and Imo State government.
Our correspondent gathered that the programme had been commissioned in Anambra, Kaduna, Benue and Lagos.
Government targets at commissioning the programme in 28 states of the federation.
