Former Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Seriake Dickson will on Monday, May 24, 2021, engage with members of the social media community to discuss topical national issues.
The Twitter event, which will hold by 12 p.m. and tagged “A Tweet With Meet”, is being put together by the HSD Policy Roundtable.
An aide to the former governor said the social media engagement is part of Dickson’s intervention on the direction of things in the country, being a political leader, lawmaker and statesman.
He said it is the usual style of the former Bayelsa Chief Executive, to add his voice to things that concern the sustenance of peace, development and stability in the country, which he has always done even before he delved into full-time politics.
It will be recalled that Dickson, who now represents Bayelsa West in the Senate, recently appeared on Focus Nigeria, the prime news and current affairs programme of the African Independent Television (AIT).
On the programme, he had bared his mind on issues such as the economy, political stability, true federalism, key institutional reforms needed in the country, security and development, among others.
Dickson, also recently paid a solidarity visit to the new Inspector General of Police, Mr Usman Alkali, and the top leadership of the Force at the Louis Edet House Police Headquarters, Abuja, where he condemned in strong terms the mindless attacks and killing of policemen and security agents in parts of the country.
Dickson is quoted to have said:
“This is a very trying period in the life of our country and particularly for the police and I thought that I should be here as the policeman that I always will be, to show support, to show concern and to join in condemning these acts of aggression visited on law abiding people doing their best to protect citizens of our country”.
The ex-governor used the opportunity to call for a cessation of all such attacks on police formations, officers and men of the Force.
