An accident in the early hours of Wednesday, February 17, 2021 almost claimed the life of a young fruit seller at Saptex Junction in Kpansia, Yenagoa.
An eyewitness simply identified as Mr. Alex, who spoke to a Niger Delta Connect reporter, said:
”This morning, a Tundra was driving into Saptex road, meanwhile, a Nissan car was coming from the street, it was obvious that an accident was impending because the Nissan car had a brake failure, the driver was trying to swerve to the left but he was unsuccessful. I heard a screeching sound and then the Nissan car collided into the on-coming Tundra.
”While that was happening a young lady in her twenties that owns a fruit stall at the entrance of Saptex Road jumped into the gutter in a bid to avoid being hit by the vehicles. Fortunately for her, the Tundra came to a halt just above her where she was in the gutter but did not hurt her. We ran to rescue her from under the Tundra, only to discover that she didn’t sustain any injury. However, we rushed her to Yenagoa Hospital for a proper medical check-up”.
According to the eyewitness, the owner of the Tundra is the Managing Director of a nearby hospital. Subsequently, the vehicles involved in the accident were towed from the accident scene.
We advise vehicle owners to be more cautious of the state of their vehicles before entering the road to avoid such incidents.
