Ghana has eventually unveiled 27 players who would prosecute the two-legged World Cup play-offs against the Super Eagles of Nigeria this Friday and next Tuesday.
The unveiling of the list comes after mixed reactions trailed the delay, with some Ghanaians suggesting it was part of their tactics to keep the technical team of the Super Eagles in the dark, and to hopefully spring a surprise on match day; the list has now been put to bed that assumption.
A notable absentee on the list is Captain Andre Ayew who is serving a suspension from this year’s AFCON. He got red-carded in the last group game where they lost to debutants Comoros.
Recall that Austin Eguavoen had invited Lorient midfielder, Innocent Bonke, as a replacement for the injured Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi.
The Super Eagles technical adviser, included Ademola Lookman, Odion Ighalo and Dennis Emmanuel in the team’s 32-man provisional list.
According to a recent update on the official Facebook page of the Nigeria Super eagles, Maduka Okoye is out of the clash against Ghana due to illness, he has been replaced by Enyimba FC goalkeeper, John Noble.
At at the time of filing this report, twenty players have reported to camp according to the official Facebook page of the Nigerian Super Eagles. The players include Ekong, Balogun, Ajayi, Aina, Onyeka, Ighalo, Akpeyi, Musa, Etebo, Iheanacho, Abdullahi, Uzoho, Simon, Dennis, Aribo, Bassey, Bonke, Omeruo, Sanusi and Chukwueze.
