Ex-BBNaija Housemate and brand ambassador Tacha has reacted to the proposal to change Nigeria’s name to the ‘United African Republic’.
Tacha insisted that changing the name of the country is not the problem of the citizens, rather the leaders should focus on making the society more conducive and habitable by providing basic amenities.
The reality TV star said the provision of good roads, quality health care, security and electricity should be top priority and not a change of name.
The House of Representatives’ Special Committee on Constitution Review has received a proposal to change Nigeria’s name to the United African Republic.

Adeleye Jokotoye, a tax consultant, submitted the proposal to the committee at the South West Zonal Public Hearing in Lagos on Wednesday, June 2, 2021.
While presenting the proposal, he said Nigeria’s current name was an imposition of its past colonial masters and should be changed. He said a change of name for the country would physically and psychologically reflect a new beginning.
The reality star took to her Twitter page to write:
“United African Republic?? Renaming Nigeria is not Nigerians PROBLEM!! Give us GOOD ROADS, SECURITY, ELECTRICITY, HEALTH CARE.. Just give us BASIC AMENITIES.”
