The former General Manager of Radio Bayelsa, John Idumange, who is at loggerheads with governor Douye Diri, has raised an alarm over alleged attempts to terminate his life.
Idumange, who is a fiery critic of the prosperity government of Gov. Diri, in a recent post made on his Facebook account, re-emphasised his allegation of misappropriation of N3b agricultural funds disbursed by the federal government to Bayelsa State to assist farmers financially to be self-sufficient and diversify dependence on government.
He went on to also allege that there are plans by his distractors to further incarcerate him and kill him in detention.
In his allegation, he said that peanuts were given to farmers after he raised the dust of the government unwillingness to make the funds available to the common farmers.
He said: “Three days ago, I came into Yenagoa from Benin City. As we drove near Opolo Roundabout, a Toyota Camry car pulled over us”.
“Two men masked from head to the face asked “Are you John Idumange? I said yes. The second one said, do not disturb our Governor. We are baggar Lizards. We will shoot you if you disturb Diri, he muttered in a small cold voice.
“Frankly, I didn’t understand what they meant by “baggar Lizard”. When I got to Otiotio Road, near a Pharmacy, I asked to know the meaning. One young man I have never met before said they are VIKINGS and that the senior people are called NORSMEN
“I have done nothing wrong apart from raising alarm concerning the N3billion CBN Agric loan. I have nothing personal against Governor Douye Diri. He should leave me alone and face the task of Governance”.
Supporters of the government have accused John Idumange that his criticism of Diri’s government is being motivated by frustration and anger over his non-inclusion in the government, an allegation he has vehemently denied.
