Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, on Friday embarked on another round of project inspection across the state, to ascertain the level of progress.
The governor had on Wednesday inspected the 4.5km Igbedi/Opokuma road project and the Bayelsa International Airport, which is now awaiting full commercial flight operations.
The projects inspected include, the Yenagoa-Oporoma road in the central Senatorial District, the Gloryland Drive road project, the Igbogene-AIT outer ring road and the media complex within the Radio Bayelsa premises.
He was accompanied by some of his aides including the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Moses Teibowei, the Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Ayiba Duba, Chairman of the Directorate of Project Monitoring and Evaluation, Ebiye Tarabina, amongst others.
Sen. Diri expressed delight at the milestone achieved by the various contractors handling the projects and charged them to redouble their efforts to meet the set target date of comple.
“I am impressed by the level of job done so far. And I know that our people are happy with what we are doing. We will regularly visit the project sites to push the contractors speed up work”.
The strategic road projects were recently awarded by the Prosperity Administration to further open up the state and ease entry and exit while the media house project will accommodate the three state owned media outfits, Niger Delta Television (NDTV), Glory FM (Radio Bayelsa) and the newspaper corporation.
