Edo State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki on Friday visited Sabongida-Ora on a fact finding mission to ascertain the problem concerning a land dispute between the community and Uhonmora-Ora.

Three persons were reportedly killed in the land dispute between the two communities located in Owan West local government area of the state.
Reports say the crisis started last Sunday, when some people went to measure a land at the boundary between the two communities and upon hearing the news, youths of both communities mobilized to the place and engaged each other in a fight which result in the deaths.
Gov. Obaseki as a way to mitigate the effects of the dispute, ordered all the lands affected to be vacated immediately and also suspended all forms of farming or any other activity until a decision is reached on the matter.
While addressing chiefs, leaders and stakeholders of the area, he appealed
to the youths and elders of Sabongida-Ora and Uhonmora-Ora communities to allow peace reign.
He said: “I will consult to find out and evaluate whether we would set up a Commission of Enquiry, Tribunal of Enquiry or just a Panel of Enquiry. We would decide and give everyone the opportunity to air their views on how it will be resolved permanently”.
