The trade of words between Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike and his predecessor, Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Ameachi may not be ending anytime soon as Wike has yet again thrown another jab at Ameachi.
The Executive Governor of Rivers State while commissioning the newly constructed Oko-nu-Odo flyover alongside his counterpart and former governor of Cross River State, has said that through his developmental strides in the state, his party, the People’s Democratic Party, the PDP need not campaign in the state during the forthcoming general elections because he has proven to the People of the state, that the party can deliver on the yearnings of the people.
According to him, PDP you can go home, we have done all your campaigns in Rivers State.
While speaking during the event, Wike threw some shades at the All Progressives Congress and Rotimi Ameachi. In his words, “Let them come and tell us what they will do for us or what they did while they were in office. The time is going and its gone, so nobody can deceive us. Those who want to build University of Transportation, they can go ahead. That is promise. This one we have fulfilled it.
The governor also took out time to eulogize the former governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke, saying he has set an exemplary standard for leaders in the country.
He said, “To the special guest of honour, one of the reasons why I invited him is because he performed very well when he was governor. I will not bring somebody who did not perform to come and commission my projects.
People like you are role models. We tend to monitor you when you were in office, and how you moved Cross River from nothing to something”.
The governor also thanked the Julius Berger for their speed in carrying out the project. He thanked the host communities for their cooperation and the ministry of works for their commitment to see the project see the light of the day.
