Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State has confirmed the release of 27 teenage boys abducted by gunmen from Government Science Secondary School, Kagara on February 17, 2021.

According to reports, the school boys were released alongside 15 others, 12 of which are family members and three staff.
The 42 of them were released Saturday, February 27, 2021, tweeted Governor Bello.
The release of the 42 is coming a day after a separate kidnapping took place in Zamfara State where 317 students were abducted from the Girls Science Secondary School in Jangebe town.
It will be recalled that the abduction of the 27 students and 25 others, was executed last week by an armed gang that stormed the Government Science Secondary School in Kagara district of Niger State at about 2 a.m. after overwhelming the school’s security guards.
It was also reported that one of the school boys was killed during the raid.
Kidnappings for ransom by armed groups across several of states in the northern states of the country have become the order of the day.
Recent attacks across the country have raised serious concerns just as it has become a political problem for President Buhari.
President Muhammadu Buhari, a retired general and former military ruler has faced mounting criticism in recent months over high profile attacks by bandits.
It will be recalled that Buhari had in 2015, promised to secure Nigerians better than President Goodluck Jonathan did.
