Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers reportedly attacked and abducted a man, his wife and three children along Ajowa Akoko and Ayere community between Kogi State and Ondo State.
The family of five was said to have been making a journey back home when they were attacked.
A family source said the man who was identified simply as Ibrahim Olusa was returning to Abuja after travelling with his family for the Easter holidays. It was gathered that the gunmen had attacked the family along the Kogi axis and held them hostage.
Mr. Ajayi Bakare, a former chairman of Ajowa Akoko community council, while speaking with newsmen said the kidnapping and armed robbery were on the increase along that axis because of the bad state of the road especially the Kogi axis.
Bakare urged relevant government agencies to rehabilitate the road to enable free flow of vehicular movement and to avert future attacks of this nature.
It was gathered the kidnappers contacted the family and demanded for N10million ransom to release the family.
Meanwhile, The Ondo Police Command has said it has no jurisdiction on the case as the abduction took place in the Kogi axis but it could only work together to ensure the victims are released.
