There was pandemonium in the early hours of Wednesday when some gun-wielding hoodlums reportedly stormed the College of Health Science Campus of the Niger Delta University (NDU) in Bayelsa.
It was gathered that they were also armed with clubs and machetes which they used to rob some students of their phones and laptops in the campus.
An eyewitness, Happiness Onoriode, who fled the scene, said they came in through the fence of the school gate, sporadically fired gunshots in the air to scare the students, before going to the classrooms and hostels of some of the students and disposed them of their valuables.
Another eyewitness who pleaded anonymity said the hoodlums fled through the back gate after the operation that lasted for about 30 minutes.
When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the institution, Mr, Ingezi Idoni said he was unaware of the incident as no one has contacted him concerning it.
Also, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Asinim Butswat could not confirm the incident when contacted by our correspondent.

In another development, the Bayelsa State Police Command has declared a 14 year old girl, Treasure Andrea Ozegbe from Elemebiri in Sagbama Local Government Area of the state, missing.
A statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer said: “The Bayelsa State Police Command wishes to inform the general public, that one Treasure Andrea Ozegbe, female, aged 14 years, a native of Elemebiri in Sagbama LGA, Bayelsa State, but residing at Prosco Road, Okaka, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, left home on the 01/09/2021, at about 0700hrs, and has not returned.
“She is fair in complexion, has tribal marks, speaks Kalabiri and English language fluently. All efforts to trace her whereabouts proved abortive.
“By this announcement, the Police Command solicits the co-operation of the members of the public, who may have useful information about her whereabout, to contact the Police Public Relations Officer, Bayelsa State Police Command, on GSM No. 08032789712 or Mr. Ebi Ozegbe on 08036775038, please”.
