There was pandemonium in the early hours of Wednesday when some gun-wielding hoodlums reportedly stormed the College of Health Science Campus of the Niger Delta University (NDU) in Bayelsa.

It was gathered that they were also armed with clubs and machetes which they used to rob some students of their phones and laptops in the campus.

An eyewitness, Happiness Onoriode, who fled the scene, said they came in through the fence of the school gate,  sporadically fired gunshots in the air to scare the students, before going to the classrooms and hostels of some of the students and disposed them of their valuables.

Another eyewitness who pleaded anonymity said the hoodlums fled through the back gate after the operation that lasted for about 30 minutes.

When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the institution, Mr, Ingezi Idoni said he was unaware of the incident as no one has contacted him concerning it.

Also, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Asinim Butswat could not confirm the incident when contacted by our correspondent.
