A family source disclosed that the incident occurred on the road as he and others were heading to a market in Amaraku Community in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State.

The source further disclosed that the father of two whose wife newly put to bed was running an errand for his uncle, a United States-based medical doctor at the time of the incident.

The source said; “Onyemauche Obilo was my cousin. He hailed from Umuchieze Obollo in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State.

“He was a Lagos-based businessman in his mid thirties. He was married with two kids and his wife newly put to bed.

“He accompanied his uncle, a USA renowned medical expert to the village, for his annual free medical care services.

“They arrived on Wednesday and he was killed on Friday while on an errand with two other relatives to Amaraku Market.

“The killers accosted them and blocked them along the road and ordered them out from the car and shot him and fled immediately, leaving others and the car untouched.

“His body has been deposited in the mortuary and official report made to the police”.

The family source said the suspicion is that the killers mistook Onyemauche for his uncle, adding that security men later offered to airlift the uncle out of the village.

Our correspondent gathered that the uncle turned down the offer insisting that he cannot leave the village when his nephew had been killed.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, CSP Michael Abattam neither confirmed nor denied the incident as he neither picked his call nor replied to the SMS sent to him.
