Unknown gunmen in the evening of Thursday, June 3 shot and killed three persons at Orji, Owerri, Imo State.
Our correspondent gathered that the miscreants opened fire at the Orji flyover killing a driver of a moving truck and two other people.
The identities of the victims are yet to be determined as at press time.
When contacted, the spokesman of the police in the state, Bala Elkana confirmed the incident.
Elkana said normalcy has however been restored in the town.
He added that the motive of the killer- malefactors was yet to be established.
The police spokesman said; “Normalcy has been restored to Orji area by combined team of the police and other supporting security agencies.
“Three persons were killed by the hoodlums who blocked Orji flyover and started shooting sporadically.
“Cause of the shooting is still not clear at the moment. Investigation has however, commenced.
Unknown gunmen on May 25 attacked the Orji Divisional Police Headquarters in broad daylight.
They razed the station which was rebuilt after it was burnt during the EndSARS protest last year.
Police swiftly arrested and paraded five persons in connection of the arson same day.
One of the arrested persons, Casmir Ibe, an employee of an oil servicing company based in Rivers State had returned to Imo State for burial ceremony of his father-in-law.
Ibe had been released on bail.
