The mortal remains of a 300-Level Law student of Imo State University, Owerri, Kenneth Ibe was on Saturday, September 25 found by the roadside.
Ibe, a youth leader in the state was reportedly kidnapped alongside another person whose identity is yet to be ascertained while they were on their way to a burial wake keep in Ugiri in the Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of the state on Friday night.
Our correspondent gathered that while the other young man escaped from the kidnappers den, Ibe was killed by his abductors.
Ibe’s corpse was dumped on a roadside along Nkwo Mba, causing ripple in the state.
Several youths took to their social media handles on Saturday to mourn Ibe who played prominent roles in students activism and in National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, politics.
His grieving brother, Felix Nwafor while mourning him, asked security agents to nab the suspects.
Another youth leader, Darlington Onyelike, wrote “rest in peace Kenneth Ibe. There is always an end to every creature. Though yours was so sudden. Those that murdered you today will never go unpunished.”
The Public Relations Officer, PRO, of the university, Sir Ralph Obi-Njoku told our correspondent on telephone on Saturday night that the report of the incident was just getting to him from the correspondent.
He lamented the rising kidnap cases in the Isiala Mbano LGA axis of the state.
According to him, the wife of a former Vice Chancellor of the IMSU, Prof Ossy Nwebo was kidnapped in the area about two months ago.
When contacted, the spokesman of the police in the state, CSP, Michael Abatam also said he was yet to receive any report on the incident.
