Gunmen Seize NDDC Official In Imo

Unknown gunmen on Saturday, July 16 abducted a top official of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Kingsley Okorafor, an engineer in Umuadara Umulogho Autonomous Community, Obowo Local Government Area of Imo State.

The abduction triggered pandemonium as the natives ran helter-skelter in the community.

Our correspondent gathered that the incident happened about three kilometers to a military checkpoint in the area.

A source who requested that his name be kept under wraps disclosed that the NDDC official attended the Christian wake keep of the Traditional Ruler of Ndihu Autonomous Community in Obowo LGA, Eze Innocent Anyawu on Friday night, whose burial is slated for Saturday July 16.

The source further disclosed that the NDDC official was trailed from the vigil venue to his community where he was abducted, while his car was left behind.

The traditional ruler of the Umulogho Community Eze Patrick Uwalaka confirmed the incident on Saturday.

Enquiries made on Police/Media WhatsApp platform on the incident were not responded to by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) CSP Mike Abattam.

Recall that gunmen on Sunday, July 10 abducted Elizabeth, the wife of the General Manager of the Imo Zoological Garden and Wildlife Park Nekede, Francis Abioye.

Abioye confirmed on Friday, July 15 that his wife’s abductors were yet to contact his family since the abduction.
