A top political figure in Rivers State, Professor Henry Ugboma has accused the State Governor, Nyesom Wike of working against the policies of the former Governor of the state, Rotimi Amaechi.
Ugboma, while speaking on an Arise T.V. interview monitored in Yenagoa on Monday, April 12, said that defaming Amaechi was Wike’s priority even before he assumed office as governor.
Ugboma berated the Governor’s bad blood towards Amaechi, adding that this was one of the major reasons why he (Ugboma) left the PDP.
In his words:
I can rightly tell you that the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has this paranoid issue against the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi. I noticed this as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party and that was one of the reasons I left the party.
I was a member of the transition committee set up by Wike immediately after the election to marshal out and put together things that will destroy the honourable Minister of Transportation, and Governor Wike immediately set us to task, that we must derive, contrive things that will mess up Amaechi and destroy him politically, and make sure that he doesn’t take up any political position in the country.
According to Legit.ng, Ugboma, who is currently the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, in the interview, also revealed that Wike had in 2015, tried all possible means to put Amaechi’s chance of working with the President Buhari-led administration in jeopardy.
However, the Rivers State Government, through the Commissioner of Information , Paulinus Nsirim, debunked the allegations.
