Officials of Hisbah in Kano State has confiscated 8,400 bottles of beer in Dawakin Kudu and Kura Local Government Areas (LGAs).
This was disclosed by the Commander-General of the board, Dr. Harun Ibn-Sina, in a statement issued to newsmen on Tuesday in Kano.
According to the statement “the vehicle was coming from Zaria to Kano when Hisbah officials arrested the driver.
“Hisbah Board has prohibited the sale of beer in the state to avoid being intoxicated”, he said.
The Commander-General also said that once investigation was concluded, the suspects would be charged to court, according to Vanguard.
Niger Delta Connect had earlier reported that Hisbah police arrested male and female university students in Kano for being in the same room.
It was gathered that the students of the Bayero University of the state, were arrested after they were been found together in one room in some off campus hostels in the school.
According to a source who pleaded anonymity, it was one of the many disturbing acts of the Hisbah police officials, adding that this only seems as a underlying intention to push for the “Muslim agenda”.
The agency established to enforce Sharia law in some states in the region recently banned stylish haircuts, sagging of trousers, playing of music at social events by disk jockeys and tricycle riders from adorning their vehicles with pictures considered to be obscene and against the tenants of Islam.
However, some questionable activities of the group have raised eyebrows round the country.
It will be recalled that Hisbah made headlines recently for arresting some residents in Kano State for boarding same tricycle.
