The Host Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil and Gas (HOSTCOM), has assured that the long awaited training of Bayelsan youths by the Nigeria Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) will commence next month.
Chairman of HOSTCOM in the state, HRH Boma Albert disclosed this while speaking with journalists in Yenagoa on Tuesday.
He said there has been allegations that some persons in the state were hijacking the training and splitting the 1000 chances among themselves.
He stated that they recieved information from the NCDMB board asking them to halt the accreditation of selected youths because of reports that some applicants were made to pay heavily for the forms.
Albert however expressed joy that despite the plans of some Bayelsans to scuttle the training programme, the NCDMB has given them the go ahead to continue the accreditation with optimism that the training will commence next month.
He said, “Since last year because of this training we have been fighting. They are selling forms for thirty five thousand naira, they even want to split the job among themselves.
“The Executive Secretary of NCDMB, Engr. Simbi Wabote is a very good man that is why he said we should stop earlier. We are going to start the training by first week of June.
“We are going to have the opening ceremony here. Whoever is selling forms the security agencies should go there and arrest those people.”
Also speaking, the State Chairman, HOSTCOM Elders Council, Chief Richard Arebekpo commended the Engr. Wabote led board for initiating the training and not paying attention to Bayelsans who prefer to sabotage their efforts.
He said, “We have to thank God because Simbi is our son and we believe that our youths are suffering that’s why he approved the training. After the training there will be starter packs for participants.”
